Well, since I suckered Lyssie-chan into doing a wav file for me,
only fair for me to fulfill my end of the bargain. And it's my excuse to
try my hand at Daikeru and Hiyako. =^-^=
Well that, and I did owe Gerard a fic...two birds with one stone.
Don't like it? Hell, PMS = pre manslaughter, are you *sure* you want to
piss me off?
The school bell rang, marking the end of a teacher's struggle and student's captivity.
Normally, all students loved nothing more than the end of the school day, some even endured homework just for the sake of being free once more.
Of course, there are the occasional students who do love school, the hard work and the prospect of a bright future. Nothing wrong with children like that.
As a matter of fact, there is one boy who dearly loves school, however it was not because of the prospects of a bright future, or just for the sake of getting away from home.
Rather, a chance to see someone. Someone who was very important.
Motimiya Daisuke.
The blond haird boy sighed and shook his head. 'Just because onii-chan has a happy relationship with Taichi, doesn't mean I might actually have one with Daisuke...'
'Despite how much I want such a chance, to win his heart...'
Like older brother, like little brother. Much like his older brother, Ishida Yamato, Takaishi Takeru preferred boys as opposed to girls.
Well, not just any boy. That boy. Daisuke, the one more likely to hate him than love him.
Takeru sighed, continuing the lonely walk home. Miyako and Iori were merrily chatting about something or the other at his side, however he felt too far away to notice or take part.
Yet he was not too far to not see how Daisuke was not too far ahead, fussing and babbling merrily to Hikari.
'You have no idea how lucky you really are Hikari...'
He didn't hate her for it, there was no reason to. They were best friends, always had been always will be. Nothing more, despite what everyone thinks.
He may not hate her, but he was certainly jealous of all the attention Daisuke gave to her. He would kill, he would fight, he would do anything for a chance to talk to him like that, to be his object of desire, even just a friend...
Takeru sighed and bowed his head, not allowing silent tears to show as Daisuke and Hikari continued along up ahead, Hikari merely humouring the other as they walked.
While blue eyes cried silent lonely tears.
And brown eyes kept an observantive eye just as quietly.
Another school day come and gone, and once again Takeru was walking alone, his heart heavy in his chest with thoughts of a brown-haired boy.
"Ne, Takeru-kun?"
"Hai...." Takeru stopped and turned to meet Hikari's caring brown eyes. 'Hikari, you're so kind and gentle, sometimes I wish you were the one I loved...'
"Are you ok..? You seem kind of down today..." Hikari asked gently, her face showing concern for her best friend of three years.
"I'm fine..." Takeru replied. 'I envy you. I envy you so much...'
"Are you sure? You don't look so fine..." Hikari replied, her eyes never leaving his face, watching for any sign of what may be bothering him.
"I'm sure..." Takeru replied. 'You're my best friend, but this is the first time I don't feel like talking to you...I want to be alone..go away...'
"Ne, are you thinking about someone?"
Takeru had been so lost in his thoughts that Hikari's question startled him. "Nani?"
"You're thinking about someone, aren't you?" Hikari smiled. "I can tell, don't think that having a gay older brother doesn't rub off on you."
That statement made Takeru snicker. "In what way, Hikari-chan?"
"A lot.." Hikari sighed, looking up to the sky.
"Seems I'm not the only one thinking about someone..." Takeru grinned at her.
"Hai..." Hikari, for the first time in her life, blushed.
"Mmmhmm...." Takeru looked to the ground, once again being overcome by his heavy heart. 'It's great when it starts, you feel wonderful and happy everytime you see the one you love, then after awhile you begin to realize how hopeless it is and then it starts to *hurt*..'
"Ne, Takeru-kun?"
"Hai..?"
"If I tell you who I'm thinking about, will you tell me who you're thinking about..?"
Such a proposition certainly seemed safe enough. After all, this was Hikari, the girl who always cheered on her older brother whenever he grabbed his boyfriend's hand in public. "Alright. Who first?"
"Ne, you're the one who seems to need it more than I do, you first!"
"Alright..." Takeru took a deep breath and let out a half dreamy, half lonely sigh. "Daisuke."
"Really?" Hikari grinned at him. "Aww, how cute! Like onii-chan, like ototo!"
Takeru blushed. "Ne, it's your turn..."
"Hai, so it is..." Hikari took her deep breath, smiling at the clouds. "Miyako."
"Miyako?" Takeru blinked. "Wow! I never knew!"
"Nobody did, nobody would ever suspect me of being gay, or bi for that matter..." Hikari giggled.
Takeru snickered. "It's always the one you least suspect..."
"Ne, nobody would of been able to tell that you were gay, I mean you're the dreamboat of grade five you know.."
"Feh. I only want to be one person's dreamboat.." Takeru returned his gaze to the ground, once again being overcome by sadness.
"I know that feeling..." Hikari sighed, joining him in his misery.
Her fingers were pounding against the keyboard as fast as they could do, completing her homework, or so she told herself.
However, while she sat their typing, her fingers were moving however her mind was not with it, not controlling the actions or at least not as much as she would like.
No...her mind was elsewhere, for once...
With something else..
Someone else..
Inoue Miyako sighed, shaking her head. 'I've had one failed crush already I don't need another one... my heart can only take so many bruises...'
Ichijouji Ken, he had hurt her without his knowing it. She had had the world's biggest crush on him for the longest time, however when he had turned out to be the Digimon Kaizer, she was crushed.
Not so much by the fact that he was her enemy now, rather, more by the fact that now she had no one to think about. No one to force herself to think about.
Now she could think about the one she knew she wanted to think about, the one who truly held her heart..
The one she could never be with.
Miyako leaned back in the chair, her eyes running along the ceiling. 'It's not fair...why me....why do I of all people have to have a crush on another girl..'
The crush had come on her rather suddenly. Actually, when she had first seen the other girl, her heart had started to pound in her eyes, although she didn't know why..
As time passed, the feeling had only grown stronger, and it had not taken too long for Miyako to realize what her reaction to the other girl was.
Which hurt, incredibly. She knew for a fact that Hikari and Takeru were the definite article, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
There was no chance for her at all... even if they weren't a couple, Daisuke was constantly throwing himself at her, what were the odds that if Takeru and Hikari weren't a couple that Daisuke and Hikari would be?
It just wasn't fair...this wasn't supposed to happen to her..
She was supposed to be perfect, the new genius digidestined, she had such hopes for the future..
However they all seemed empty to her now, as though they meant nothing now.
Nothing without Hikari..
Sighing again, Miyako returned to her homework, determined to force her thoughts from the brown-haired girl.
The brown-haired angel..
"Miyako?"
Miyako jumped when she heard some call her name, and she turned her gaze to greet the owner of the voice. "Hey Daisuke! What's up?" she forced on a cheery air, not wanting to let him know the ache that existed in her heart.
"Nothing, really, was just walking by... you going to the digital world..?"
"Uh, no, wasn't planning on it, just doing my homework. Besides, there aren't any dark towers listed on the map." Miyako called up the map of the digital world to emphasize her point.
"Sou ka..." Daisuke sighed, rubbing the back of his head with his hand nervously. "Do...do you mind if I stay and talk with you for a bit..?"
"Sure, sit down. What's up?" Miyako asked brightly, wondering what could possibly cause Daisuke to be so serious.
"Well....you're the oldest digidestined, so I thought you might be able to help me.."
"Help you? With what?"
"I'm inlove..."
Miyako felt like someone had stabbed a knife through her heart. To know Daisuke had a mad crush on Hikari was one thing, to know he was probably inlove with her was another, however to have him confide in her about it was something she knew she would cry over later. "Oh...?"
Daisuke's brown eyes met hers. "I'm inlove...and I don't know how to tell him how I feel.."
Miyako raised an eyebrow. "Him?"
The two best friends walked side by side in silence, each brooding over their respective heart aches, when Hikari overheard a couple.
"You want to go to a dance tomorrow, love?"
"Absolutely! I'd go anywhere with you..."
'Lucky...' Hikari thought moodily. 'I'm sure Miyako would be that happy to go to a dance with Ken..'
'Damn Digimon Kaizer..'
"Ne, what's the date today, Hikari-chan?" Takeru finally spoke up.
"February 13th..."
"Doesn't that make tomorrow..." Takeru's voice trailed off, his dark mood darkening.
"Valentine's Day..." Hikari sighed, for a moment feeling very depressed. Until she got an idea. "Ne, Takeru-kun?"
"Hai?"
"I have an idea how to tell Miyako and Daisuke how we feel..."
"Oh..?"
Hikari smiled at him. "Tomorrow IS Valentine's Day, you know.."
Takeru gulped. Hikari's ideas were usually....not so sane...
Hikari giggled when she saw Takeru's face. "Ne, it's not THAT bad of an idea!"
"Your idea of 'not bad' is what scares me.."
Hikari laughed again as she told him her idea.
"Takeru? You're inlove with Takeru?" Miyako was shocked. 'Daisuke...well..it's always the one you least suspect..'
"Hai....it's funny, isn't it?" Daisuke said bitterly. "Here I am going out of my way to make sure everyone thinks I have a big crush on Hikari and then when they find out I love Takeru..." Daisuke started to sniffle. "It's just a big joke isn't it.."
Miyako was shocked for only a minute longer, until a big smile broke out over her face and she grabbed his hand. "That's GREAT!!!"
"Yeah... me being miserable is great..." Daisuke sniffled again, a dull ache paining his heart.
"That means you really don't like Hikari and that nobody else is chasing after her!!"
"Huh?" Daisuke looked up and blinked at the insanely giggling hyper happy Miyako. "I'm sitting here pouring my heart and soul out to you and you're worried about Hikari?!!"
"Oops!" Miyako's cheeks were red, however her expression was joyful. "Sorry, Daisuke!! Umm... you're *not* having a crush on Hikari-chan is really great news to me....er...sorry for not being more sympathetic.."
"Really great news...?" Daisuke arched his eyebrows. "Wait a minute...don't tell me you like Hikari..?"
Miyako gave him a victory sign, blushing happily.
"Wow...it *IS* the one you least suspect!" Daisuke blinked.
"What? It's ok for you to be so inlove with Takeru and not ok for me to be so inlove with Hikari?" Miyako stuck her tongue out at him.
"No! I didn't mean it like that...I just mean...well I thought you liked Ken.."
"You *thought* but didn't *know*!" Miyako giggled again, reliefed at her lack of competition.
"Er...whatever..." Daisuke blinked again, grinning at her. "Well this is neato...we're both pinning away for people we can't have!"
"OH...yeah..." Miyako sobered instantly, looking down to the ground sadly, pouting.
"Sorry to bring you down...." Daisuke sighed.
"With what...the truth..."
"....."
The two fell silent for a few minutes, each pondering their heart's desire until Miyako spoke up. "Ne, Daisuke?"
"Yeah?"
"I have an idea..."
"For what..?"
"Valentine's Day."
"Er...Valentine's Day...?"
Daisuke had the sudden feeling he should be afraid as Miyako informed him of her plot, grinning happily over each word said.
As ideas were passed and two girls giggled madly as they relayed their ideas to two frightened boys.
And soon a night had come and passed, and now Saturday was here at last.
Valentine's Day.
"Ano...Hikari-chan...I'm not sure if this is such a great idea after all..." Takeru said nervously, scracthing his hair underneath his white hat.
"Why not? You have a better idea?" Hikari giggled as she pulled him along to the store.
A store which had a heart-shaped sign outfront which read in big pink letters: "Candy and Sweethearts".
"Miyako....are you sure this is a good idea? We don't even know their preference!!"
"What are you talking about?! It's a great idea! How can you not love chocolate?" Miyako replied brightly as she practically shoved him along.
To a store which had a heart-shaped sign outfront which read in big pink letters: "Candy and Sweethearts".
"How about this one?"
"No..."
"What about these?"
"I don't really likes cherries in the middle though.."
Hikari sighed. "Ne, Takeru, we agreed to come here so you can at least help me out a little!"
"I just don't think it's such a good idea now.." Takeru mumbled, dragging his feet along the ground.
"You should at least try Takeru-kun."
"I know.."
"If you know why don't you do it then?" Hikari smiled at him.
"I just...well..."
"What?"
"What if he doesn't like me back, Hikari?" Takeru looked up, all the misery had returned from the day before and the day before that, now having transformed into clear-cut fear.
"What if he does? You'll never know unless you try..." Hikari prompted.
"I guess...."
"It'll hurt more if you never try, and then you'll wind up regretting it for the rest of your life."
"Sou ka...."
The two walked around for a few more minutes, trying to decide on what gifts to get for their respective crushes.
Until a flicker of brown hair caught the corner of Hikari's eye. "Ne, Takeru?"
"Hai..?"
"Is that Daisuke over there?"
Takeru instantly turned his head when he heard the name "Daisuke". Sure enough, there in the corner of the store was Daisuke
With a violet-haired companion.
Takeru felt his heart sink into his shoes. "No way..."
"This one?"
"No."
"This one?"
"No."
"How about this one?"
"C'mon he's not going to go for that.."
"I was trying to pick something out for Hikari but I guess this would suit Takeru too..."
"Oh..."
"Ne, Daisuke, relax, we'll find something for Takeru and Hikari!"
"..."
"Are guys always so unhelpful? What's the big deal about telling someone you like them?"
"Besides the fact that we're not only both boys but rivals..?" Daisuke said miserably. "Nothing."
"Rivals? You guys? Yeah right." Miyako snickered. "You're just like Taichi and Yamato, you think you're fooling everyone with the rivalry bit but we all know what's really going down.."
"Umm, Miyako, what did you say just now? I can't hear you when you're muttering.." Daisuke sweatdropped. 'This girl can be so weird..'
"Oh..nothing..." Miyako giggled again. "Baka.." she muttered under her breath.
"You say something?"
"Nothing!" she chirped, holding up yet another teddy bear. "What about this one? I think the pink matches Hikari's favourite outfit..."
"Maybe if she were Mimi..." Daisuke snickered. 'This is ridiculous. We're never going to find anything here...'
"Ne how about this for Takeru?"
Daisuke looked up to see a little blonde doll dressed up as a Cupid, bow, arrow and all. He blushed. "Umm...I don't think so.."
"How cute, you're blushing over your boyfriend."
Daisuke turned redder. "He's not my boyfriend! Not yet anyway.."
"Not yet?" Miyako arched an eyebrow.
"Uh...well c'mon you can't look me in the eyes and tell me you're not like that with Hikari.."
"You're right, I am like that." Miyako smiled happily.
He shook his head. "I don't get it..I mean, girls are so happy about their feelings and guys aren't.."
"That's because girls are smarter with their emotions."
"If that's true how come you and Hikari aren't a couple yet?"
"Because I thought you and Takeru liked her so I was trying to be noble! But now that I know you like Takeru then I can chase after her all I want.."
"Just because I like Takeru doesn't mean he likes me back you know.."
"Maybe not yet.."
"Yet?"
"Well since you like him and Takeru is a nice guy I'm pretty sure I could set you two up somehow which would leave Hikari all to myself.."
"Er...thanks..I think.." 'Well she has her priorities straight..more like curved...gah whatever..'
Daisuke followed Miyako as she continued to search for gifts and chocolate, or some creative means of holding your heart up on a platter to the one you adored with the risk of being accepted or rejected. At least chocolate would be cheerful.
Daisuke was more pulled by Miyako than anything as she searched, until a flicker of golden hair caught her eye. "Ne...Daisuke.."
"Hai..?" Daisuke grumbled. 'This is such a pain, this just isn't going to work...'
"Isn't that Takeru over there..?"
Daisuke jumped when he heard the name "Takeru" and turned around to confirm Miyako's observation.
Sure enough, it was Takeru.
With Hikari.
Daisuke felt his heart shatter into a million pieces.
"No fair! That just isn't fair! They can't be valentines sweethearts can they?!?!" Miyako wailed. "Damn him!! I wanted to ask her first!!"
"You don't really think that could be Miyako with him do you?" Takeru begged Hikari, his voice pained.
"I don't know.." Hikari said softly, trying to be strong for her best friend, trying not to let her own pain show.
"You don't think....you don't think there.."
"Maybe they're just looking for valentines together." Hikari then smiled. "Who knows, maybe they're shopping for us!"
Takeru blushed. "Talk about wishful thinking..."
"Well you never know...hey, maybe we should go talk to them!"
"Are you crazy?! How are we supposed to get valentines for them if we're shopping with them?!"
"Well we don't have to tell them that we're getting valentines for them you know...c'mon!" Hikari pulled Takeru along by his wrist towards Miyako and Daisuke.
"Ack!"
"What?"
"They're coming over here!!"
"WHAT?!?!"
"Shh!! Not so loud!!"
"Man...I really don't want to see Takeru with Hikari.."
"You think I want to see her with Takeru either? We gotta get outta here!"
"Miyako...it's not like it's the digiworld...we can't just run away.."
"SURE we can!!" Miyako cried, grabbing his wrist and making a dead bolt run for the door, running as fast as her legs would carry her.
"Whoa! What was that all about?" Takeru gasped, blinking.
For a minute Hikari stared after Miyako, sad at the thought that the other would run away from her. That was until her eyes came across a box of chocolates on the floor, trampled in the stampede of Miyako and Daisuke. 'They wouldn't buy chocolates for eachother together, would they...?'
Hikari smiled. "You know, I don't think we'll be needing chocolates, Takeru-kun."
"Nani..?" Takeru blinked at Hikari. 'I hate it when she acts like she knows something I don't..'
"C'mon!" Hikari called brightly, taking after Miyako and Daisuke.
"Hey! Wait for me!"
"I..huff...puf...think...we..outran them..." Daisuke wheezed, bending over, gripping his knees, trying to catch his breath.
"Yeah...guess...huff puff we did..." Miyako replied.
When they stood up, they avoided eachother's eyes, not wanting to see the pain they knew would be in the other's eyes, a result of seeing the ones they loved in the arms of another...
"You know..." Miyako finally said at last, looking up to the sky. Small, crystal clear teardrops were dripping down her cheeks.
"What..." Daisuke asked, his eyes fixed miserably on the ground. 'Takeru and Hikari, sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g.......kissing...'
"I think..I think we should just go home..." Miyako forced the words out on a choking voice, biting her tongue to prevent herself from sobbing. 'Hikari and Takeru...it, it figures... If it was just Takeru chasing Hikari it'd be fine..but...she...she..'
"Y...yeah..." Daisuke agreed.
So lost in their broken hearts, the two friends did not even bother to say goodbye as they parted ways, each occupied with their own thoughts and heartaches.
"Ne, look, there's Daisuke!"
"WHERE?!"
"Over there!" Hikari pointed to him as she ran, having followed the pair to the park. "But I don't see Miyako with him..."
"She must be heading home out the other side..."
"Oh..." Hikari smiled. "Divide and conquer then! Goodluck, Takeru-kun!" She gave him a victory sign before disappearing around the street corner.
"Good luck she says..." Takeru grumbled as he chased after Daisuke. "I'm going to need it."
As Daisuke walked along the street, his hands buried in his pockets, his mind began to play tricks on him.
"Daisuke!"
'Great..' he told himself bitterly. 'Now I'm imagining Takeru calling after me...'
"Daisuke!"
'Just a cruel joke of my mind, trying to make myself feel better...' Daisuke scowled at the ground. 'He could never feel the same way. Even then, why would he? He could have anyone he wants, why would he settle for the jerk who makes fun of him?'
"Ne, Daisuke, wait up!"
'Hikari....you're so lucky..'
"DAISUKE!!!"
Daisuke finally turned around when someone grabbed his arm. There to greet his eyes, sure enough, was Takeru. 'I must be hallucinating now..'
"Ne,Daisuke, daijobu?"
"I'm fine.." Daisuke grumbled, refusing to meet the beautiful blue eyes which were so able to tear at his heart.
"Are you sure? You seemed really out of it a minute ago..." Takeru asked gently, concern filling his voice.
"Yeah, whatever..." he sighed, turning away from him. "Shouldn't you be with Hikari?"
"What do you mean..?"
"Well it is Valentine's Day..." Daisuke started to walk away.
"But Valentine's day is a day to spend with the one you love..." Takeru sighed sadly.
Daisuke stopped in his tracks. "Don't you love Hikari...?"
"Like a brother loves his sister, yeah..."
"But...I thought..." Daisuke blinked in confusion.
"Hikari's always been a sister to me, and that's how I love her. Always have, always will." Takeru looked up at Daisuke, a vulnerability showing in his eyes. "Demo, as far as Valentine's Day goes, she's not the one I should be with.."
Daisuke's heart started to pound in his ears. "Then...then who should you be with?"
"Well..." a blush stained Takeru's cheeks. "The one I should be with...is the one I'm with right now.."
"Nani...?" Daisuke breathed softly, his eyes widening in surprise. 'He can't..he can't mean..'
"I..I love you, Daisuke.."
Right then and there, Daisuke was convinced his heart was going to stop beating in his chest just because he was so happy in that moment.
"I always have...ever since I first laid my eyes on you, Daisuke..." Takeru said, his voice small and weak. "I guess you hate me now..... sorry, Daisuke..." misery drowning his tone like a wave, he turned around to walk away, angelic tears silently strolling down his cheeks.
For a moment, Daisuke could only stare after Takeru in shock. 'He..he loves me..?'
His eyes were only wide with wonder for a moment longer until he heard a forlorn sob come from the throat of the one he loved. He instantly jumped and grabbed Takeru's arm, forcing the other to turn around to face him.
"Ne, Takeru.."
Takeru faced him, his eyes shimmering with sorrow.
"How could I hate you.... when...when I.." Daisuke sniffed, his cheeks pink, his eyes glowing with joy. "When I really feel the complete opposite about you...?"
"N-nani..?"
"I love you too, Takeru..chan..." Daisuke smiled, tears of joy making their way down his cheeks, and he drew closer to Takeru, pressing his lips to his.
Takeru's eyes went wide for a minute, until he closed his eyes, relaxing into the kiss. His lips returned the sweet pressure of Daisuke's lips happily.
Miyako stalked towards home in silence, promising herself that if anyone bothered her, even if it was Iori, she was going to scream and kill someone.
And she remained like that for awhile, until she realized that someone was following her.
How could she tell? She could hear a seperate set of footsteps when she walked, however when she stopped so did they.
It was getting really annoying.
"Look, whoever you are, I'm having a bad day so do you mind just leaving me alone?"
"A bad day? What happened, Miyako-chan?" Miyako jumped as she recognized the voice of her angel.
She turned around. "Hikari-chan! Uh..uh...nothing.."
"Nothing? Nothingis what made you so upset a minute ago?"
"Ah...nothing important..?"
"C'mon..." Hikari came up beside her. "You can tell me, we're friends, right?"
"Yeah.." 'That's right, just friends, and that's all we'll ever be...'
"So what's wrong..?"
"It's nothing to worry about." 'You just stomped on my hear today, no big deal.'
"It woudln't have anything to do with the 'Candy and Sweethearts' shop toady, would it?"
Miyako's face went red. "Umm..."
"Miyako-chan.." Hikari stopped in the middle of the street, smiling at Miyako. "One thing I learned in digiworld was to never lie about or tip toe around your feelings."
"...." 'Easy for you to say...'
"And that actions speak louder than words..."
"Uh-huh..."
"So I think an action is definately called for here." Hikari smiled, and, leaning towards Miyako, pressed her lips to the older girl's.
Miyako went into shock, her cheeks flushing, unaware of what to do. Her eyes were wide with wonder, and she stared at Hikari when she pulled away.
"Well..?" Hikari asked softly, smiling. "If you keep staring at me like that, you'll burn a hole in me."
Miyako blushed again, her cheeks still red. "Hikari-chan.."
"I love you.." Hikari said, still smiling, kissing Miyako again.
This time, Miyako closed her eyes, returned the kiss, and pulled the smaller girl into her arms, refusing to let go.
After awhile, they pulled their lips apart and Miyako smiled at Hikari. "I love you too, Hikari-chan..."
Hikari smiled. "Not so bad, was it?"
"Ne.."
"What?"
"I forgot to give you your Valentine.."
"Oh..?"
A kiss ensued in the street.
"I like your valentines..."
"Sou ka."
Another kiss.
Pulling away, another happy smile.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Love."
